1940 Chrysler Windsor Convertible Lot #4F

You are bidding on a rare 1940 Chrysler Windsor Convertible Coupe that Bob Bakewell actually sold for his employer in 1948 and was able to acquire for his collection some 63 years later. Title VIN 699159 and 37,786 miles on the odometer. Restoration work that began in 2011 includes rebuilt 6 cylinder engine, new canvas top, upholstery and wide whites. Spotlight and dual rear bumper guards. Last driven in 2016. The acquisition of the car would be an upgrade to any collection. The story Bob selling the car and requiring it made the cover of the Old Cars Weekly November 3, 2011 edition where Bob was referred to as Nebraska’s “Chrysler Man.”
This vehicle is part of the Bob Bakewell Collection Estate Auction. Bob was an avid collector, member of several antique car clubs, and served as a judge at several antique auto shows. Bob passed away at an advanced age, but most of the cars in his collection were drivable when parked and always stored indoors. His family is selling 20 cars from his collection so that others may enjoy his hobby and legacy.
This is an online-only auction ending on October 13th at 7pm. Vehicles can be viewed at Bob’s former car lot, Auto City, at 1215 E Street, Fairbury, Nebraska 68352 on October 6th from 1pm – 5pm. Selling AS IS and all sales are final. Money Wire or Certified Funds for payment. Removal on October 18, 19, or 20 unless other mutually agreeable arrangements are made. Payment is immediate.
