You are bidding on a 1980 Shay Model A (replicar) Seat Roadster. Title VIN 1HWA31AA2AE00602 and 23,741 actual miles on the odometer. These Ford-licensed 4 cyl fiberglass vehicles were built on a Pinto chassis with a 4 spd manual stick shift transmission over approximately a 3 year period. This car is a Deluxe model (one side mount) with a cream colored body and black fender, dual cowl lamps and horns, rear luggage rack, wide white walls, Model A flying quail radiator cap and a rumble seat. Approximately 5,000 were sold, and there is an international club of Shay Model A owners. A very fun car to own and drive. Last driven in 2019. Has a few splits in vinyl upholstery.
This vehicle is part of the Bob Bakewell Collection Estate Auction. Bob was an avid collector, member of several antique car clubs, and served as a judge at several antique auto shows. Bakewell was referred to as Nebraska’s “Chrysler Man” in the November 3, 2011 edition of Old Cars Weekly magazine. Bob passed away at an advanced age, but most of the cars in his collection were drivable when parked and always stored indoors. His family is selling 20 cars from his collection so that others may enjoy his hobby and legacy.
