1978 Jaguar XJS Cannonball Run Car Lot #111TA

You are bidding on a 1978 Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 Cannonball Run Winning Car. Vin#UJ2W54736BW . TITLE. Rarely do record holders of the Cannonball run sell their cars. Now is your chance to have a historic Cannonball car. This Jaguar is a historic car indeed, it was piloted by David Heinz & David Yarborough in the 1979 Sea to Shining Sea, Cannonball Run, from New York to Los Angeles and took the checkered flag winning the event with a time of 32 hours and 51 minutes. At the time David Heinz owned and operated a Floridian based Jaguar Dealership, the car was pulled by Heinz and his team and a marine fuel cell was placed in the trunk, along with CB radios, Escort Radar detectors in the front and the rear. Accompanying paperwork with the car shows Walt Thurn as a long time friend of Heinz being at the event. He mentions that Heinz had everything installed in the car, but to be easily removed so the car could be sold as a New Demonstrator, even after the car was driven back from LA to Florida covering a mere 9000 miles! The dash of the glove box has two plaques celebrating the win of the event, and the cars survivor appearance shows its authenticity also being featured in Brock Yates Cannonball Run Book. Much Paperwork is suppled with this historic Jaguar, a car which deserves to be restored to former glory and then added to the discerning gentleman’s car collection. In it’s later years the car was unused and saved from the outside elements. The car featured heavily on the Discovery Channels TV Show, Fast N Loud, where Richard Rawlings of Gas Monkey Garage & best friend Dennis Collins, who beat the record in 2007 with a time of 31 Hours & 59 Minutes in his 550 Maranello, rescued the car from it’s near fatal demise. The body of the car is patina’d and sun baked, and the Jaguar windshield decal in the lower side of the passenger side is still as it was in the Brock Yates book images in 1979. This car represents the Spirit of the American people and the freedom that this event stood for, for so long. This was the fastest car to travel across the USA in 1979, a true piece of motoring history. The car is complete, can be added to any collection as is or restored to former glory. This is the first time this vehicle has been for sale on the open market in over 30 years, a real investment. RUST in the floor. Open areas in the floor.
