VanDerBrink Auctions held the Schuchardt Collection Auction in the beautiful Town of Spearfish, SD on September 15th, 2012. This Lifelong collection of early Brass Vehicles and parts was offered to the public at NO Reserve and No Buyer’s Premium for on-site bidders. The cars, parts, and collectibles were carefully brought up the hill to the former Black Hills Passion Play location for the auction, right above Le’s Home. It was beautiful with the South Dakota Black Hills all the way around the auction site. There was a preview on Sept. 14th, 2012 with a meet and greet and bidders were able to talk to Les and Delores Schuchardt about their cars and enjoy coffee and cookies. Bidders from 23 States and 5 foreign countries were on-site to bid for this piece of Automotive History. There were also over 150 on-line bidders that bid live on-line from US and 10 countries for these rare vehicles. The auction started with selling parts and castings and then went into the memorabilia and vehicles. There was something for everyone and bidding was hot. A 1909 Ford Rear end sold for $4,500.00 to a collector looking for parts to finish his project. There were an assortment of Repro and original Carbs for Early Brass Cars that sold actively to collectors from New Zealand, New York, and on-site from $525.00 to most of them for $1500-$2100.00. A Model T Weather Vane brought $925.00 and even a vintage gumball machine sold for $1100.00. The vehicles were all started before they were sold and there were also a few projects. The first to sell was a 1913 Harley Davidson Motorcycle for $25,500.00 and sold to an on-line bidder. One surprise of the auction was when bidders came to bid on the 1903 Ford A, it was completed except for the pin stripe and sold to a Bidder on-site from Oregon $101,000.00. A 1904 Ford Model AC sold to bidders from England for $103,000.00 and will be getting ready for the Brighton Tour. Another Highlight of the auction was a beautiful 1934 Ford 5 Window Coupe staying in South Dakota for $62,000.00. There was almost all the Pre-T Letter series there from Ford and more. An International High Wheeler Sold to Australia for $46,000.00. The Auction went on to sell more vehicles and went to a tent to sell license plates of leather, porcelain, more parts and collectibles. The auction wrapped up around 4:20 PM and everyone took their treasures home. Here are some of the results from the Schuchardt Collection Auction.
